Makeup at Forever 21...Good or Bad?

Unsure of shade name for this palette

I feel a little cruel posting about these palettes as I noticed this morning that they are no longer available.  However, I thought it would still be worth it to show that good beauty products can pop up in the most unexpected of places.

When you shop at Forever 21, it's likely that you're not looking for a piece of clothing that's high quality and going to last for years to come.  They provide fun, trendy clothes at cheap prices and as people always say, you get what you pay for.  Now don't get me wrong, I've had F21 pieces that are still going strong after a couple years.  But, that's the exception to the rule.  I never pick up anything thinking it will last more than a season.  If it does, it's just an added bonus.

So, because of this, I never thought they would have quality makeup.  Cheap clothes, cheap makeup, right?  Apparently, I was wrong.  I bought both the 15 Shade Palettes (at about $5.00 a pop!) and was pleasantly surprised at their quality.  The formula is nice and soft making them easy to blend.  The colors are also nicely pigmented with the exception of the white matte color in the first palette.  Most of the colors are shimmery, but not glittery AKA if you're over the age of 16 you can still wear them.

My favorite colors lately have been three out of the second palette.  The shimmery brown/taupe, copper and gold shades (seen in the last swatch pic smack in the middle) are my most used at the moment.  I'm sure once the weather turns cool I'll try some of the darker fall like shades, but right now these are the ones I gravitate towards in the warmer weather.  If you wear them over a base (like the Maybelline Color Tattoos) they really pop.

All in all, even if the idea of buying F21 makeup makes your skin start to itch, give it a try!  You never know what little hidden gem you'll find...likely for the amount of change you have at the bottom of your purse.

  1. I'm impressed. This isn't the first time I've heard their eyeshadows are pretty good... just might have to try them out for myself!
