theBalm's Nude Tude and Hot Mama Review and Swatches

Because I always love to get a deal, I've become a fan of the sample sale websites that have cropped up over the years.  There's GiltRue La La and Beyond the Rack just to name a few.  Although I have used many of them, I think Hautelook is my favorite.  Probably because it was the first one I had used.  A few weeks ago, theBalm was one of the brands featured.  I had never tried anything from the brand so wanted to give a couple things a try.

First off, we have the Hot Mama blush.  This reminds me A LOT of NARS Orgasm.  It is that same pinky-peachy color with gold shimmer.  Hot Mama retails for $20.00 and comes with .25 oz while Orgasm retails for $29 and comes with .16 oz of product.  If you've wanted to try the NARS blush but have been put off by the price tag, this could be a slightly more budget friendly alternative.  The blush has a really nice texture and wears all day.

Secondly, I picked up the NUDE'tude palette.  It comes with 12 shades and retails for $36.00.  I absolutely love the middle four colors of this palette.  They are just such nice neutrals that can be worn in a natural, day look or built up for more of a night time eye.

There's a nice mix of shimmer and matte shadows, allowing for a lot of possibilities.  Sexy, Serious and Sleek make wonderful liners while Sassy and Snobby are good highlighting colors.  As for the formula of the shadows, they are incredibly soft and easy to blend.  I haven't had any trouble with creasing (although if you're prone to creasing, it's always a good idea to use an eye primer).

From Left: Sassy, Snobby, Stubborn, Stand-offish
From Left: Sultry, Selfish, Seductive, Sophisticated

From Left: Silly, Sexy, Sleek, Serious

My least favorite shade would definitely be Snobby (it's just SO yellow!) but all the other colors are really nice and versatile.  If I'm being honest I could also do without the glitter in Silly, but ya can't win 'em all.

Overall, I love this palette.  It has a perfect balance of matte and shimmery and contains mostly neutrals, but not just brown/taupe neutrals like a lot of palettes out there.

Have you tried theBalm products?  What's your favorite eye palette?
