Don't you love when you are randomly added to a magazine's mailing list and you start getting magazines for free?? I started receiving InStyle maybe about six months ago or so and I definitely won't complain! There's just something different about flipping through an actual magazine as opposed to looking at a website online.
I received the June issue of InStyle the other day and let's just take a moment to appreciate the dress that is on the cover. It's a piece from the Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2013 collection. If I could 1. afford it and 2. wear it randomly to the store or dinner without getting weird looks I totally would. I love a navy and white stripe. There's just something so classic about it.
Anyway, before I obsess even more and you start to think I'm losing it, on to the purpose of the post. Because I am in love with this dress, I decided to try to find a look that is more easily accessible and acceptable for everyday wear. I was originally hoping to find a maxi that would have the same stripe on it, but when I found this short version from Charlotte Russe I thought since a maxi isn't everyone's cup of tea I would opt for this. I probably haven't been to a Charlotte Russe since I was about 16 but regardless, I think this dress is cute and it's a good interpretation of the Oscar dress (and at $20 you can't go wrong!). To top off the look, the rose necklace is from Ruche and comes in at $22.99.
So, for a grand total of $42.99 you can get an everyday look inspired by the InStyle cover. Seeing as the original look comes to about $7,385, that's pretty dang good. And you won't have people thinking you're crazy because you're in a ballgown in the middle of the grocery store.
