I saw this nail polish (Chanel 531 Azure) advertised in the latest InStyle magazine and just loved it. It's basically the color of the ocean. Not just regular ocean, but Caribbean ocean color...and there totally is a difference.
Then, I remembered I had bought Sally Hansen's Black and Blue polish a few days earlier. I don't know about you, but no matter how much I love the Chanel polish, I'm not willing to spend $27.00 on a NAIL POLISH. It's just not going to happen. So, I painted my nails with the Sally Hansen version and looked up swatches of the Chanel lacquer to compare (which you can see here).
I applied three coats of the SH polish and the result is as pictured above. I would say the main difference between the two polishes is that the darkest shade of the duo-chrome is darker with the SH than it is with the Chanel polish. It's more of a dark blue/purplish tone and the Chanel is the brighter blue shade. However, with a savings of $20, I'll deal with it being a bit darker. All in all, I think it's a pretty good budget friendly alternative for the beautiful Chanel shade.
Also, I used this base coat and this top coat which has made the polish last 5 days (and counting) without chipping! I could buy the base coat, polish and top coat for less than the price of the Chanel polish. I must say, it's a good feeling to have nail polish that lasts more than two days. It almost makes the mundane task of painting them worth it!
